WAKEFIELDS WELCOMES 30 NEW RECRUITS IN APRIL

Category Community Upliftment

Wakefields is actively seeking to bring young, dynamic agents into the industry, diverging from traditional industry hiring practices. This approach injects fresh perspectives and energy into our team.

At Wakefields Real Estate, individuals aspiring to build a career in property can apply for our learnership programme. Through this initiative, they can study to obtain their professional NQF4 qualification and subsequently work as fully-fledged property practitioners in one of our many branches throughout KwaZulu-Natal.

This particular learnership program is unique. It is a 30-person Funded Learnership program driven by Services SETA. Under this program, 30 unemployed individuals were interviewed and selected to join the Wakefields Academy for training in the property sector. Upon completion of their NQF4 professional property qualification, they will be absorbed into Wakefields' sales staff in various branches around the region.

"The major difference," says CEO Myles Wakefield, "was how this learnership was structured. For many wanting to enter the property sector, the barrier to entry is the time it can take to begin earning a living. It can be 6 to 12 months to establish yourself, and in that period, the candidate has expenses critical to the role as a property consultant...transport, phone and more. The one very different take on this funded learnership which we rarely see with other learnerships...is that it comes with a R3 000 monthly stipend for a year. This is a game-changer. It removes the economic stress and frees up the consultant to focus on the task at hand - selling or letting property. That makes a world of difference. A paid-for education, and financial support while finding your feet."

Wakefield says, "For this specific Funded Learnership, right from the get-go, the 30 are being absorbed into our learning process in a very intense way - more so than our standard learners.  They are now all employed by Wakefields - we matched their CVs to the staffing needs in the various branches, and on 2 April, they'll be at work, ready to learn and earn. It's been an exciting journey for us, and for them, and we look forward to seeing them thrive at Wakefields, in this dynamic industry."

This initiative exemplifies Wakefields' commitment to transformation and job creation. By providing opportunities for unemployed individuals to gain valuable skills and enter the property sector, Wakefields is contributing to the growth of the industry and the broader economy. This commitment aligns with Wakefields' values of empowerment and inclusivity, demonstrating our dedication to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.
