Wakefields' on-site Academy is not only a fully-fledged training centre for its interns and qualified staff, but it hosts numerous informative online webinars, including some for those considering a career in real estate.

For Wakefields' candidate property practitioners, the Academy offers training for all the industry-specific courses and qualifications required to become a professional. Headed up for the past five years by dedicated, a qualified and experienced trainer, Nicole Brown, the Academy is recognised as a leading training centre. Each year the Academy trains over 50 new candidates with many qualifying for their PDE within the first year of employment. The Level Up webinar series adds depth and alternative perspectives from a diverse range of presenters to give Wakefields property practitioners the additional edge when it comes to career development.

The Academy has a broader mandate than the requisite industry courses which are provided at no cost to Wakefields staff: "We recognise that working in the field of real estate involves more than industry and sales knowledge. It's important to us to pay attention to the personal growth of our large Kwazulu-Natal team," says Brown. "Our innovative bi-monthly webinars are not simply focussed on honing professional skills, but on soft skills as well." 

Wakefields runs a webinar every two weeks. The Next Level series, held every second Friday, is exclusively for all Wakefields' property practitioners only, and is focussed on property sales. Included is a diverse range of topics, hosted by internal and external professionals in various fields, giving staff the opportunity to constantly learn more about professional upskilling within an ever-changing world. The topics are wide ranging, from Lead Generation and Converting Open Mandates to Sole Mandates, to What Language are we using to educate our sellers about the market. The positive response from the team is visible in the increasing number of consultants dialling in: "We easily had 200 people for our last webinar. The interactive nature of the webinar works well, too, and our property practitioners are enjoying looking at their profession from different perspectives, exploring new ways of doing old things." 

A big plus for Wakefields employees is that webinar attendance provides them with points required by the industry's CPD - the Continuous Professional Development initiative.
