Freeways provide swift access to the north and south costs with King Shaka International Airport a mere 40 minutes drive along the southern ring road. Pinetown, situated 330m above sea level, enjoys an equable climate with considerably less humidity than is experienced at the coast. The residential areas of Pinetown have lush green gardens and shady trees due to its annual rainfall in the region of 900mm.

SCHOOLS

The largest provincial teachers’ college in KwaZulu Natal – Edgewood College of Education – is situated on a 34 hectare campus on Mariannhill Road. There are six Junior Primary Schools and three High Schools servicing the area. Pinetown also provides special schools such as Browns School and Pinetown Convent. The area is also a popular choice with Afrikaans families because of its proximity to one of the few Afrikaans medium schools in Durban, Gelofte Skool.

Pinetown can satisfy the needs of all its residents, all their shopping can be done within the area. There are three large supermarket complexes situated near Knowles, Checkers and Pick n Pay in the impressive PineCrest Centre. GENERAL

There are two hospitals in the area, Crompton Hospital and St Marys Hospital in Mariannhill. One of the most encouraging growth factors in Pinetown’s favour has been the growth of large industrial townships. In the Pinetown area you could almost eat out at a different restaurant every night, with a large variety of styles to choose from.
