WELCOME TO MOUNT EDGECOMBE

The idyllic, secure Mount Edgecombe Country Club Estate, situated less than 10 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Umhlanga Rocks on the KwaZulu Natal north coast, is a manicured, residential golf course estate.  The homes, some with golf course frontage, are situated in villages which go by the names of Scottish and American golf courses such as St. Andrews, Troon, Pinehurst and Southern Hills.

The homes are themed, in that their exteriors and roofs follow the prescribed colour scheme, which gives the landscape of Mount Edgecombe a feeling of harmony.  The common areas and gardens are immaculately maintained by the Management Association and there are many sporting club facilities and restaurants available to the residents.

The  two golf courses, around which the houses have been designed and built, are Mount Edgecombe Course I, which is a championship golf course, on which a Sunshine Circuit tournament and a winter tour event have been played and where the Nelson Mandela Challenge is to be played in December 2013.  Mount Edgecombe Course II, which is the newer of the two courses, is also a good test of golf.

Estate I’s roads are tree-lined and there are pretty dams and water features on the golf course, where the Fish Eagle’s cry can be heard.   Estate II is a conservancy and impala, bushbuck and monkeys are to be found in the indigenous forest and grassy areas.  In addition, the birdlife is prolific and one often sees Egyptian Geese, Southern Bald Ibis and Wooly Necked Storks on the fairways.  In the centre of Estate II is Pani Dam, a large expanse of water, teeming with large fish, which children love to feed from the bridge to the 9th green.

In the early morning and evening there are joggers, cyclists, young and old out for a stroll on the cart paths, some taking their dogs for a walk, confident in the knowledge that security on the Estate is of paramount importance.  Boomed gates are manned by security personnel  24 hours a day and electric fencing, vehicle and foot patrols make Mount Edgecombe one of the safest places to live in Durban.
